At the start of this 2 week period I had $231 budget for all grocery and household needs. Right now I have $22 and $21 are earmarked for haircuts for Anson, Nathan and Annika. That leaves $1. Right now I know that I will need size 2 diapers and baby food, if nothing else. If I could scrounge up a mere $50 (of which $11 was already spent on wood glue and batteries for a bed-wetting alarm) then I could also buy some bananas and grapes.
Part of me feels so stinkin' proud of the fact that I am taking care of my whole household budget for $280. And the other part of me is already tired of stressing about running out of cash.

Impressive!
My wife and I average a little over $200 a month on groceries. I'm not sure how that compares to everybody else in the world.
How does everybody else fare?
I'm trying very hard to get our total monthly budget for food/diapers/H&B/dog food down to $200/month for a family of 6. 2 kids are still in diapers. So I am hoping that I am not sitting us up for failure with that number. But it's not a choice. That's all we have unless we go in the hole at the bank. And then it's a pain to get out of the hole.

Jenna, I can't believe that Beck is in size 2 diapers... is he really that small?
Some things I've done to cut back: bought a pair of hair clippers to cut my own kids' hair. Saves money!
Buy diapers at costco.
COUPONS!! LOVE THEM!!! Right now you can get cereal for almost free at Albertsons!
Since I started using coupons, I seriously have paid very little for HBA. Free toothbrushes, toothpaste, and TP. $0.50 for a bottle of shampoo/conditioner (Herbal Essence), $0.70 for liquid soap and $0.70 for an 8 pack of bar soap (Irish Spring). Also did a similar deal with dishwasher detergent, laundry soap, etc. Maybe we need to chat... using coupons with sales REALLY stretches those dollars...
Hyngrl, He is totally that small. Tiniest baby I've ever had. He's cleared 15 lbs now, but I'll find out more at his well check this week.
I am so with you on the running out of cash thing...it's stressful and draining to have to worry about covering necessary expenses. Hang in there!
